Strawberry Banana Smoothie - Smoothie

We’ve teamed up with recipe blogger Katie Moseman, to publish this tasty recipe. Her expertise and delicious recipes are a hit on and offline, and we are happy to bring you her Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe.

Did you know that you can make your own smoothie at home that’s just as good as the ones from your favorite smoothie shop?  All you have to do is roll out of bed, toss the ingredients in your blender, blend it up, and you’re good to go.

This strawberry banana smoothie includes bananas, strawberries, frozen yogurt, vanilla extract, and milk.  It’s equally good for breakfast, post-workout snack, or an anytime meal replacement. The milk and yogurt provide protein, while the fruit provides fiber.  Both help keep you satisfied.

There’s been a lot written about the order in which you should add ingredients to your blender when making a smoothie.  That’s because many home blenders aren’t as powerful as commercial blenders.

If you’re lucky enough to have a powerful blender, it will probably blend the ingredients quite well no matter how you happen to toss them in.  If you have a blender with a more delicate constitution, I recommended that you follow the recommended guidelines. Add liquids first, then dry stuff like powders and sweeteners, then leafy greens, then fresh fruits and veggies, then sticky stuff like peanut butter, and (finally) frozen or hard items.

The strawberry banana smoothie recipe below will list everything in the proper order, so don’t worry about having to refer back to the list above while you’re making the smoothie; but it’s nice to know the proper order for future reference.
